The Myrmidons
since the game is coming out next week I wanted to give a sneek peak of our guild for anyone who is interested.
The myrmidons was birthed from a group of Guild Wars enthusiasts who were introduced to the game for the first time during the World Preview Event. The myrmidons are not a large guild but are a noble and prestigious one. I am Son of Laertes, also know as Odysseus. In the attempts to keep the Myrmidon Guild as pure as possible I created an open guild by the name of ???Kingdom of Ithaca???. You see many people have requested that there be some sort of one on one ability or challenge within the game of Guild Wars. Here in the kingdom of Ithaca we have brought that to the table. Yes, that???s right our guild is able to issue challenges between the two guilds for one on one battles. Not only do we attempt to bring a new game-play to the table with this guild, but we offer training grounds for those who wish to be inducted into The Myrmidons. As I began to say earlier, the Kingdom of Ithaca Guild was formed initially for the purpose of keeping a pure myrmidon Guild. ???How can you achieve this???? you may ask. Well the kingdom of Ithaca serves as a testing ground for potential members of the Myrmidons. By creating build specific tests that must be completed before entry into the myrmidons, we are able to restrict membership to only the most elite of Ithacan soldiers. Right now you are probably thinking, ???Wow what a cocky group of punks.??? On the contrary, we desire the same outcome as most of you; to provide the most engaging and enjoyable gaming experience we can. In no way do we suggest that Guild Wars is lacking in the Devs. Department. We are simply using the current game and adding our own creative deviations from the norm. It is the same mindset that drives a person to spend their time in the game trying to find a perfect mix of Dyes that completes the armor look they are going for. Those that are in the Myrmidons do however take a sort of pride in completing the required entry tasks. For example: in a portion of the AoE build test the applicant must enter The Great Northern Wall mission with two members of the Myrmidons. At the end of the mission they will be asked to defeat a large group of invading Charr with nothing more than light monk support. Currently we have in place tests for anti-casters, Tanks, Light Tanks, AoE, Healers, Trappers, Pet tamers/Undead commander, Warrior???s Bane, and even one for the occasional anti-anti-casters. In the event that there is a member of the Kingdom of Ithaca that doesn???t believe they fit into any of these categories, the tests may be modified. If there is one thing we stand on, it is the ability to be creative in a build. The tests not only keep out the occasional teammate that decides to use a catapult on their own team (Dame Vacco!!!!) but they also serve to give the testee a sense of pride in their accomplishments. We do not want anyone to believe that we are trying to call them weak or in some way unworthy of our guild. We are merely asking for them to display their strength and do it with honor. What more can we ask for. ???For we are Lions???.. Immortality, it???s yours. Cease it!??? |

where we came from.
For those of you who did not catch te signifgance of our name I will give you a brief history of who the myrmidons are. If you have read the Illiad or seen the movie Troy, you may have found the name Myrmidon verryfamilliar. you see the myrmidons were a elite sect of Warriors that fought under the banner of Achellies. they were the strongest soldiers in the greek Impire and with the aid of Achellies they flogged manny armies into sunbmission. it was said that this group of men were created by the gods and if one died in battle then two would rise in his stead. If you are interested in hearing mor of our history or simply want to join the guild. please reply.

A name with Meaning....I like
Well Son of Lartes I must say I am interested in hearing more of this story of your name. Perhaps you should compose a site with such information. It would more than likely make managing and advertising your Guild much more proficient, considering all the things you took mention of in the opening post of this thread. Your Guild sounds as if it follows the Greek doctrine rather well. The tests sound almost like a colloseum like ordeal.
I can see you are looking to not only win a few guild battles, but to ultimately win the guild war. Let us only hope that you keep a steady pace, and not allow anyone to begin nipping at your heals....ha..ha..get it! Here's a link were most people are creating sites for the guilds, If you need any help feel free to consult me. |
